“This is my Junior Counsellor (JC) group. I was recently given the amazing opportunity to travel to Clermont-Ferrand in France to be a JC on an international village for 11 year olds for one month. I can utterly say it has been one of the most exciting adventures in my life to date. Every kid, leader, staff and JC has left a footprint on my heart. We spent the month planning activities for the kids and we watched them grow. CISV is such an amazing organisation and I hope that every child gets to one day experience what I was lucky enough to in France this year.”
Ruby, Noah, Gloria, Na’or and Tracey have returned from Black Charrow Step Up in Queretaro, Mexico
The Step Up had delegations from Czech Republic, France, Germany, Guatemala, Netherlands, Italy, Mexico, and the USA.
“It was a jam packed 3 weeks full of…. jumping in the pool (sometimes when they weren’t allowed), climbing pyramids, making friends, learning how to live with 30-something brothers and sisters, and exploring human rights.
The kiwis did us proud; running a fantastic cultural activity on the perception versus the reality of life in New Zealand. Na’or and Gloria were part of a smaller planning group who ran a powerful simulation based on human trafficking, and all 4 delegates ran successful activities exploring human rights in their various planning groups.”
“The five of us returned from three crazy weeks in Washington, D.C just over a month ago now with some incredible memories, lessons, and friends. We spent Independence Day in the city and watched the fireworks go off over the National Mall, we took silly photos in front of the Washington Monument, saw snakes and toads outside our rooms and adopted 35 new brothers and sisters from all over the globe. During those three weeks we planned activities that made us think and we challenged each other to look at ideas in new ways. Exploring human rights with the insight of people our age of different nationalities, religions and backgrounds was the most rewarding, eye-opening experience I’ve had, and will stay with me forever I’m sure. The friends, memories and new perspectives we have all taken away from our time in the USA are something not one of us will ever forget!”

Sand dunes are just a coastal playground … right? That’s what we, CISV Auckland, thought before embarking on this coastal project. As we learned, dunes provide protection from storms, and offer beach stability, as well as playing host to native wildlife, however, thanks to humans, they are under threat… read more
